No, Oakland wasn't worse before the BPP. No, Oakland isn't any better because of them. They are a relic of history and over glorified. While no one wants to say they were funded by communists its little mystery that they fled to Cuba and Algeria when it hit the fan. The dead Judge. He was white so it's okay to hate him, right? No, wrong. Angela Davis is a lionized murderess. Fighting racism and white supremacy is one thing but using that as an excuse to be violent and commit crimes is pretty much what BPP did.

Like any community made of people, the BPs had their flaws, but man, how could you not react hostile to a society that previously enslaved your ancestors and still doesn’t think you should have basic civil rights.

It‘s good to remember how well they actually organized & how much community work they did.

Yesss! I can't pretend to know much at all about the Black Panther Party, but learning this made me realize how much their image had been manipulated by propaganda. They changed the US for the better and I wish more people knew that. History isn't black and white (har har)!

I'm learning such from this channel. Thank you so much for continuing to educate and share the amazing contributions of grass roots efforts. Thank you to the Black Panthers for their diligence and fortitude to advance social progress. ❤

It’s sad that they only really implemented those reforms to undermine the popularity of the black panthers as as soon as the movement was suppressed enough they hollowed out those reforms real quick.
