Iron & Wine, the moniker for musician Sam Beam, is gearing up for the release of his new album, “Light Verse,” on April 26 through Sub Pop. To tease the upcoming record, Iron & Wine has shared the animated music video for the album’s third single, “Anyone’s Game.”

Directed by Callum Scott-Dyson, the video for “Anyone’s Game” features a stop-motion style using card cutouts and hand-drawn elements. Scott-Dyson aimed to explore themes of evolution, the cyclical nature of life, falling in love, breakups, and the idea that life sometimes feels like a game of chance.

This latest single follows the release of two other songs from the upcoming album. The first single, “You Never Know,” was previously shared and was featured as one of the Songs of the Week. Additionally, Iron & Wine shared a duet with Fiona Apple titled “All in Good Time,” which also garnered critical acclaim and was selected as one of the Songs of the Week.

“Light Verse” features an impressive lineup of musicians, including Tyler Chester on keyboards, Sebastian Steinberg on bass, David Garza on guitar, Griffin Goldsmith, Beth Goodfellow, and Kyle Crane on drums/percussion, and Paul Cartwright on strings. The album will include four tracks with a 24-piece orchestra.

Beam took on the role of self-producer for “Light Verse,” with mixing and engineering handled by Dave Way at Waystation and Silent Zoo Studios in Los Angeles. This upcoming release serves as a follow-up to Iron & Wine’s 2017 album “Beast Epic” and the 2018 EP “Weed Garden.”
