Watching this video in April 2024… BCNR IS STILL AMAZING!!! Although Isaac's strong lyrics and unique vocals gifted the band a great sense of style, i'm afraid to admit it kinda overshadowed the CRAZY talent of the other six members of the band.

Now sharing the microphone duties and taking a melodious score-ish sound. The material they presented on their 'Live at Bush Hall' release and the brand new material they have been playing on tour blows my mind when thinking of the talent these kids have. Tyler's crazy vocals, Lewis' amazing approach in child-like songwriting, and for God's sake… May Kershaw's piano-led fables are just soulbreaking.

Seeing them live is OUT OF THIS WORLD and makes me sooo excited for their third studio album!!!!!

wow, very surprising to me given how much i disliked God Emperor of Dune… for me the only bad book in the series. the ideas contained within are wonderful and brilliant for the series overall… however the book itself i found a real slog, not very well written and just did not enjoy at all.

As someone who grew up listening to bands like Arcade Fire, Sunset Rubdown, The Microphones, Built To Spill, Wolf Parade, Beirut, Devotchka etc. Not that into Black Country New Road. I've listened to both records at least 3 times. It has some great songs, but nothing as consistent as a lot of the bands I listed. They are over hyped and overrated in the indie sphere imo. And the reason I think they are is because this sound has just been lacking for a while, but filling a void doesn't make it great.

As a fan of the electronic uk dance band called Underworld, I really enjoyed this review. And Tyler Hyde from Black Country New Road is the daughter of Karl Hyde who is the lead singer of Underworld. Known for their 1996 song Born Slippy Nuxx from the Trainspotting film soundtrack.

For anyone wondering why this video is unlisted, afaik it's because they put it on Nebula and are trying to get people to watch additional content (including this, it seems) on there

Black Country, New Road are on a serious streak to become Gen Z's Pink Floyd. This might sound a bit preposterous at first since they don't sound anything alike, but if you look at their career arc so far the similarities are actually kind of shocking.
    – Both bands are from southern England
    – Both bands originally had a frontman who sang and wrote all the lyrics and was also their main guitarist (Syd Barrett for Pink Floyd, Isaac Wood for BC,NR).
    – Both of said frontmen left the band due to mental health issues
    – In the wake of their frontman leaving, both bands had their bassist become the de facto leader of the band – Roger Waters for Pink Floyd, Tyler Hyde for BC,NR. If you've seen bootleg recordings of their recent shows Tyler sings the most of the new songs and I think generally is coming across as the band's new frontwoman, even while three other members have also wrote their own songs with two also singing their songs (keep in mind that PF did the same, David Gilmour sang and wrote plenty of songs during Roger's time as leader).
    – Pink Floyd made a couple of movie soundtracks early on in their career after Syd left. If what the band has said about their next project maybe possibly involving film scoring is to be believed, then that's another box ticked. While we're at it, I guess we could say in general that both bands' music can work very well for scoring movies!

I was floored by how good the latest batch of BC,NR songs without Isaac were and I cannot wait to here the studio versions of them when the time comes. I think we may be looking at a band whose prime is still ahead of them, and given how fucking amazing their first two albums have already been this gives me great hope. Gen Z deserves a band with a story and musical legacy like Pink Floyd, and Black Country, New Road may turn out to be that very band.

What i really, really lke, when i watch your review, is that you speak to the people, and not to an in-crowd.
It`s good if people who like Black Country, New Road, that they get clear informations, to be part of a dialogue,
about great music. I am also a reviewer. I`m doing that on little stages in Cologne. And i want my reviews
to be understood by everybody. So, it is inspiring to see your review.

Hi, just thought I’d drop in to share a story. Once myself and 2 mates went round to a sesh spot with some blokes that I’d often smoke with, but my mates were pretty new to most of the blokes. We were all playing our Gatorade saxophones, happy as Larry, until we decide to start playing “bong songs”. Now, the premise of the majestical bong song, is that you add a song to queue, going round the circle one by one a couple of times, and when your song comes on you pack, punch and pass the bong all within the duration of your song. Now, everything was going swell… until my mate queued a song by these fuckers. Science fair, i think it was called?? Either way, like 3 of us (myself included) started freaking the fuck out because it was the worst thing we’d ever heard. Like, y’all probably think I’m exaggerating this but I’m not. It’s still a funny thing to bring up how dogshit this song was within the group well over a year later. Needless to say, science fair was quickly skipped and bcnr had not been played willingly by myself or anyone else from that circle aside from my mate. Literally the most dogshit music I’ve heard, but if you’re into it, Godspeed bro 🤷‍♂️

I honestly don’t remember the last time that song destroyed me emotionally the same way as The place where he inserted the blade did. AOTY so far for me and not even close

Very funny to hear ninja tune called a small indie label. In the UK at least, being on Ninja Tune is usually a sign that you're going to blow the hell up and/or be insanely acclaimed

Heard their debut album after Fantano's review of this sophomore, didn't like it one bit haha; figures, as I don't like Arcade Fire that much either. My takeaway from this video is: Don't listen to their 2nd album, I guess…

Ive just started calling a lot of modern music Post. just Post. Theres so much experimentation and blending of genres going on that post-punk or post-rock dont feel right. From Julia Holter to Crack Cloud, its all Post.
