Spiritualized Announce “Songs in A&E” Reissue

By CNN Staff

Spiritualized, the band led by Jason Pierce, has announced a reissue of their 2008 album, “Songs in A&E.” This reissue is set to be released on June 21 via Fat Possum, as part of their ongoing Spiritualized reissue program. In addition to the reissue announcement, the band has also shared two music videos for tracks from the album, “Soul on Fire” and “You Lie You Cheat.” Both videos are now available online for fans to enjoy.

The reissue of “Songs in A&E” holds special significance for Jason Pierce as he nearly lost his life while making the album. Pierce was diagnosed with double pneumonia, which resulted in a life-threatening situation. In a press release, Pierce reflected on this experience, stating, “I remember saying at the time that I felt like people who have these kinds of experiences become more charitable. They change or whatever. But I think I came back partly to the same disappointing person I was before. And sometimes I still feel the same. But a lot of people worked really hard to get me out of there and I also realized just how lucky I was.”

The album has been remastered for vinyl by Matt Colton at Metropolis Mastering, ensuring that fans can experience the music in the best quality possible. This reissue follows the 20th-anniversary vinyl release of Spiritualized’s 2003 album, “Amazing Grace,” which was rolled out in January of this year.

Spiritualized’s last album, “Everything Was Beautiful,” was released in 2022 via Fat Possum. The band has continued to captivate audiences with their unique sound and impassioned performances over the years, earning a dedicated following throughout their career.

The tracklist for the reissue of “Songs in A&E” includes songs such as “Sweet Talk,” “Death Take Your Fiddle,” “Soul on Fire,” and more. Fans can look forward to rediscovering these tracks in a new light with the upcoming vinyl release of the album.

Overall, the reissue of “Songs in A&E” serves as a tribute to the resilience and creativity of Spiritualized and Jason Pierce. The band’s ability to overcome challenges and create music that resonates with listeners is a testament to their enduring talent and artistry. Fans can mark their calendars for June 21 when the reissue will be available for purchase, allowing them to delve into the sonic world of Spiritualized once again.

Stay tuned for more updates on Spiritualized and their upcoming reissue of “Songs in A&E” as the release date approaches.
